While people love to give the grimier side of online dating grief, Dave and Alia prove that love in the digital age is as romantic as ever. The two were introduced to each other through he popular online dating service, OkCupid back in February of 2014. They scheduled their first date for the very next day. Meeting someone for the first time after kinda meeting them for the first time online is always nerve racking. They met at a French restaurant in Brooklyn, and by the end of the night, they were the last couple left.
A bond was formed quickly, and fostered through “long walks in the city, and spontaneous weeknight concerts,” as Alia puts it. In March of 2016, a little over two years after their first date, Dave proposed to Alia at a Cuban restaurant in Times Square. Dave had arranged ahead of time for the house band to play one of Alia’s favorite songs— “Con los Años Que Me Quedan” by Gloria Estefan. During the performance, Dave took to the stage and asked Alia to marry him.
Dave and Alia were married in December of 2017— Alia walked down the aisle to that very same Gloria Estefan song. We were so happy to help them capture their big day.
The ceremony and reception were held at the always beautiful Race & Religious. Following a touching ceremony, the bride and groom took to the streets to celebrate with a good, old fashioned second line. Friends and family followed suit, and it kicked off an all out party that would last through the night. The best way to end your big day, in our opinion. Dave and Alia are why we love New Orleans Wedding Photography.
