The House of Blues is a premier New Orleans venue. Tucked away inside the building, elusive and exclusive, is the Foundation Room— a members only lounge. We had the opportunity to showcase the rustic, dark and ominous space in a House of Blues styled New Orleans wedding shoot.
We began by capturing the wonderfully gothic banquet-style dining area. The chairs were skeletal, the ceiling low, propped up by rows of old wooden columns. If we weren’t shooting a wedding, one might think the table was set for a congregation of ghouls! The warm, orange lighting was chiefly provided by candlelight. The walls were adorned with artwork reminiscent of the Renaissance.
On the far end of the room sits a cathedral-like bar— if forgiveness isn’t an option, absinthe is a suitable alternative. Lounge areas can be found on either side of the space. Three may be company, but the couches are equipped to handle a healthy amount of hedonists.
Our bride slips away, making her way upstairs to a room with a view. Sometimes you need a break from the shmoozing and boozing.
We captured our couple outside, at the Voodoo Gardens. More stone than flowers, the outdoor area provides a welcome breath of fresh air for guests.
If you’re planning your wedding, and you’re looking for something different, something gothic, or just plain cool, the Foundation Room at the House of Blues is the spot for you! The place truly emanates “non-traditional elegance with a funky twist!”
